4. My Teeth Got Whiter Pretty Quickly
Of course, results vary per person and per situation, but I was able to see amazing results even after one use! After my first whitening session, I couldn’t help but show off my new pearly whites.
Not only that, but I saw results so quickly that I only needed to use half of the kit. Now I have extras I can squirrel away for touch-ups later or before a specific occasion in the future.
5. Sadly, Teeth Whitening Is Not Permanent
As are most things in this life, teeth whitening is not permanent. We eat and drink stain-causing foods/beverages every day, and Lord knows I’m not going to stop drinking my precious coffee anytime soon.

Smile Brilliant makes it so easy to whiten your teeth at home. They send you everything you need all neatly packaged in one convenient box. Let’s break down how their whitening system works once you have the kit.
Step 1: Make molds of your teeth per the provided instructions. These are for your custom-fitted whitening trays.
Step 2: Mail in your molds with the pre-paid, pre-addressed envelope included and then excitedly wait for them to return.
Step 3: Clean your trays, brush your teeth with just water and put a thin line of whitening gel in the tray.
Step 4: Pop on your trays and wait 45 min – 3 hours.
Step 5: Rinse and brush teeth with toothpaste, clean trays, dry thoroughly and put a thin line of desensitizing gel in trays.
Step 6: Pop on your trays, wait 20 min and spit out the excess gel. Don’t rinse!
Step 7: Let the gel sink in, go to bed and wake up one step closer to whiter teeth!
The Best At-Home Teeth Whitening Tips Courtesy of Smile Brilliant
- Don’t forget to send along your signed consent card with your teeth impressions after you’ve made your mold! It’s very important and very easy to forget to do.
- For best results, whiten your teeth before bed so it can do its thing while you sleep without battling new foods and stains.
- Avoid stain-causing foods and beverages such as coffee, tea, chocolate, etc. for 24 hours for best results (sorry my fellow coffee addicts – this one was difficult for me too).
- If you experience gum sensitivity, start by reducing the amount of time you keep your trays in. You can also apply vaseline to your gums while whitening to protect them from the whitening gel.
- Drink a lot of water before and in between the whitening gel and desensitization gel to ensure you don’t feel dehydrated during the process! Whitening can take up to 3.5 hours and you shouldn’t drink water during or after you finish. Make sure you don’t get thirsty during the process / before bed.
- The average person will need 7-14 daily applications to remove all stains from their teeth.
Do I Recommend Smile Brilliant? YES
I truly don’t think whitening your teeth can get any easier than this. I had full control over when and where I whitened my teeth and was able to rock my PJs in the comfort of my own home while I did it.
I think what I truly love most was that Smile Brilliant teeth whitening system gave me the freedom to do whatever I wanted while I whitened because I wasn’t chained to a dentist chair in a sterile office.
Sometimes I would pop on a face mask and pamper myself while I whitened, because you know, treat yo’ self! Other nights I would get to work on my many writing and blogging projects. It was fantastic.
